She would escape from any kennel and she was very destructive.Īfter Roxie was treated for heart worms and deemed healthy, she finally found a home in September 2014. She was extremely timid and had high anxiety, which made shelter living worse. This girl clearly had some bad times during her 5 years. ![]() She was approximately 5 years old, heartworm positive and malnourished. Unfortunately, financial strain is a very familiar struggle to our non-profit facility. Not only the 4-legged, but the families that have adopted a shelter pet, too! We are beyond thankful that we have been able to sustain operations for all these years!! We have stood by our mission and followed our passion to serve a great purpose! PCHS has made a difference in so many lives. PCHS is a safe refuge & temporary home for 700-1,000 stray, unable to be cared for or simply unwanted pets, each year. PCHS is the only shelter in Pickens County that aids felines. Pickens County Humane Society is the only NO-kill shelter in Pickens County and one of few in our region. PCHS does not receive funding from the county, state, nor any city in which the organization serves. Pickens County Humane Society is a non-profit organization operated by fundraisers and community support through donations.
